the batteries are recommended to be replaced every six months, the smoke alarms themselves every ten years for proper functioning. You can change the smoke alarm batteries yourself, you don’t need to hire a professional & spend money to replace batteries on your smoke alarms. This is a very easy to complete depending on the number of alarms you may have. Tools that may be required is a ladder, 9V batteries.
